Trip to Tokyo, Japan!

Where have I been the past week? Actually, it’s been a lot longer since I’ve written here. However, the answer is in Tokyo, Japan! Me and my super awesome girlfriend decided now that we are done with school let’s go on a super amazing trip to celebrate. We were pretty nervous at first, it was our first time out of the country on our own. Then we missed our connecting flight in Seattle and had to spend a night there. But after our 12-hour flight the next morning we were finally there!

We arrived at the Narita airport where we took a shuttle to our hotel in Ikebukuro. Being from Fresno, Tokyo was a completely different universe. I can’t even describe how much fun it was to just walk through the streets and see the amazing culture all around us. We weighed ourselves when we got home and had both lost 10lbs from all the walking we did over that week. Our hotel was fairly close to a train station that connected us to everywhere we wanted to go. I still can’t believe how easy it was to get around the city. We never once felt lost or afraid as we traveled through the busy streets. Everyone and everything was so friendly to us!

We spent our days visiting the various districts, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara. Seven days was just not enough time. Though I doubt staying a month would have been enough time to see everything. We visited the Studio Ghibli Museum and ate there. We went to Tokyo Disneyland and explored. We also visited the Meiji shrine and other various landmarks. Way too many to name.

It was an absolutely amazing experience! I would definitely recommend going to visit Japan. You just might need a few months to really see everything. Oh and also a tip for new travelers who don’t fly often, short layovers sounds good but unless you want to run a mile across an airport in 10 minutes and still miss your flight, I’d go for the longer layover.

There is just way too much to talk about and I’m really tired. I’m going to go take a nap for the next 3 days.
